Mold: How to Work with Residents to Prevent Mold

Training Description:

Mold is a moisture issue. Moisture issues can develop in a variety of ways in a home. Many of the causes of moisture issues can be attributed to occupant activities, including breathing. (Each exhale of air is full of water vapor.)  Housing staff can work with occupants through education and implementing effective policies to reduce the incidence of moisture issues and improve the health of the home.  Simple, inexpensive tools can allow occupants to take care of small patches of mold when they develop.

Training Objectives:

  • Gain an understanding of various ways occupants can control moisture
  • Identify various education resources and policies to help with teaching occupants about controlling moisture.
  • Identify simple safe tools for mold clean up
