The federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program has been used by tribes and tribal housing authorities for more than 20 years to finance affordable housing development on reservations across the country. This course will explain how the LIHTC program aligns with other tribal housing initiatives, especially NAHASDA. In addition to a general explanation of how these two programs work together, this webinar will describe detailed procedures and requirements for ensuring continued operational compliance with both programs.
Most tribal housing employees are familiar with NAHASDA’s rules and regulations. As tribes and tribal housing authorities begin to take advantage of the LIHTC program’s powerful leveraging, it becomes crucial to know how the program’s rules and regulations are the same and how they differ. This course will touch on:

- Learn about a 3-day course Travois offers in partnership with NAIHC that culminates in a NAHASDA and Tax Credit Compliance Professional (NTCCP) certification
