IMPORTANT NEWS ON BEHALF OF Heidi Frechette, HUD Deputy Assistant Secretary

Effective February 3rd, 2019, I am pleased to announce that David Southerland, who is the Administrator of Southwest ONAP, will be serving as the Acting Administrator of Southern Plains ONAP until the position is permanently filled. Prior to coming to work for HUD, David worked for the Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation for over 20 years, including 12 years as the Executive Director. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. David and his wife, Theresa, have been married 41 years. They have two sons, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren.

At the same time, I am pleased to announce that Fred Griefer will be serving as the Acting Administrator of Southwest ONAP. Since 2016, Fred has been the Director of Grants Management in ONAP Headquarters. Prior to joining ONAP, Fred worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Fred grew up in Northern California and earned his Bachelor’s in Political Science at San Jose State University and his Master’s in Public Administration from California State University-Long Beach. Fred and his wife, Sherry, recently celebrated the birth of their daughter, Madelyn.

Please join me in welcoming David and Fred to their new roles.
